Liverpool news: ‘That is why the quadruple is unlikely’ Jurgen Klopp after Spurs draw

Liverpool news: The Reds suffered a major setback in their hopes of winning the Premier League title after dropping points in a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday.

Son Heung-Min fired the Spurs into the lead early in the second half, which was overturned by Luis Diaz’s deflected shot during the 74th minute of the game.

Jurgen Klopp’s troops tried hard to find the winning goal during the final minutes of the game. But Spurs stood firm, earning a crucial point in their bid to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The Reds currently sit at the top of the Premier League table but only on goal difference. Manchester City can go three points clear of them when they play Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium later today.

Speaking to the media after the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said that his team’s chances of winning the quadruple have taken a massive hit after the Spurs draw.

He said: “I’m not happy, but not as sad as the players are right now. It is my duty to explain why something happens like this. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were completely rested, that is why it is so hard.

That is why the quadruple is so unlikely; there is a reason nobody has done it in this country.”
