Liverpool news: The Reds are interested in signing Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley this transfer window.
Matt O’Riley has been a revelation since joining Celtic from MK Dons last January transfer window. The Denmark youth international helped the Hoops win the Scottish Premiership last term, registering three goals and three assists in 12 appearances after making the switch.
He has started the current season brightly as well, assisting one goal in four league appearances so far.
The 21-year-old has previously represented England’s U16 and U18 teams. However, he recently changed his international allegiance and was called up to Denmark’s U21 Team in March of this year.

According to a report by ESPN (via The Transfer Tavaren), Liverpool is interested in signing Celtic’s Matt O’Riley. The Reds could make a late approach to bring him to Anfield before the transfer deadline.
Celtic is currently reluctant to part ways with the former MK Dons midfielder. However, a transfer bid in the region of £15-20 million could tempt them to change their stance. Apart from the Reds, Arsenal and Manchester United have also shown interest in signing O’Riley in recent weeks.
The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp recently expressed his desire to add a new midfielder to his squad. Speaking to the media, he said: “Yes, I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder – and you were all right and I was wrong.
Now we are going for a midfielder right now. We will do something but it has to be the right one”.
What will Matt O’Riley bring to Anfield?
Valued at £2.7 million by TransferMarkt, O’Riley is a box-to-box midfielder who is known for his passing, dribbling, and tackling skills, along with his work rate. According to WhoScored, he has averaged 1.3 tackles, 3.5 shots, 3 key passes, and 1 dribble per 90 so in the league so far this season.
The Hounslow-born midfielder also completed 79.3 percent of his passes in the league.
Liverpool have endured a disappointing start to their season, winning none of their opening three league games. The Reds will look to turn things around when they face Bournemouth for their next PL game later today.
Meanwhile, Celtic is currently at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, with 12 points from four games. They will next lock horns against Dundee United in the league.
