Liverpool set to offer a £9m-a-year contract deal to beat Real Madrid in the race for Bayern Munich star. The Reds are in the market for a defensive reinforcement after a number of blows to their squad due to injury.
Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are in the market for a strong centre-half, who could be a long-term partner for the Dutch centre-back Virgil Van Dijk. The towering defender is currently unavailable for the Reds due to the injury he picked up in the famous Merseyside derby.
Van Dijk’s partner Joe Gomez is also sidelined after being injured in the very next fixture. The things are worse for Liverpool at the back with back to back injuries. However, Klopp has managed his defensive setup well with his reserves.
Liverpool did suffer a defeat against high-flying Southampton in their home. The Saints managed a win with former Liverpool forward Danny Ings scoring against his former side. Klopp played with Brazilian Fabinho and Henderson as the two centre-backs at the back.

Another senior defender in the Liverpool squad, Joel Matip isn’t completely fit for the Reds. Klopp’s side lost Lovren in the last summer transfer window, which was a big blow for Liverpool. However, the club does have a number of young defenders on their side coming from youth ranks.

Perfect replacement for Dejan Lovren?

The Austria international has been a crucial player for German Champions Bayern Munich in the past seasons. The defender has been vital for Bayern Munich’s success and has won a number of titles at Allianz Arena. German side did try to retain Alaba’s services but negotiations over a new deal reached an impasse earlier this season.
Liverpool lost their experienced centre-back Dejan Lovren last summer, which paved way for this situation. Klopp’s side now needs a new centre-back, who can partner alongside Van Dijk and lead the defense until the injured defenders return back.
The 28-year-old defender will become a free agent by June and will begin a new journey by next season on a free transfer. The Austrian has a goal already this season for Bayern Munich in the thirteen league appearances. The defender can also play as a left-back, which makes him versatile.
Alaba demands higher salary than Sergio Ramos
Liverpool could possibly beat Real Madrid with a lucrative contract offer, according to reports. While Real Madrid’s move for Alaba is stumbling due to Alaba’s wage demands. Pini Zahavi has told the Spanish champions that Alaba wants a wage of €13 million ($16m/£12m) a season after tax.
Real Madrid eyeing Austrian David Alaba as a long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos. While Sergio Ramos is also in his final year at Madrid and the skipper is picking up €12 million ($15m/£11m) a season. The Spanish giants will be looking to extend Ramos’s contract at Madrid.
The transfer saga is likely to rumble on for some time with Flick not wanting this to affect their title defense. Real Madrid will have a good defensive duo at the back with Alaba and Varane in the future. But, Liverpool are at the moment in the driving seat with a better offer for Alaba.
