The Merseyside outfit is set to hand out-of-favor forward a new deal in order to prevent his exit.
Liverpool’s transfer blueprint could take a big twist as gaffer Jurgen Klopp is set to reward Reds’ out of favor striker Divock Origi.
The Belgian’s departure appeared to be the case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ in the preceding transfer window, but however, it hasn’t materialized yet and he did opt to stay his put at Anfield.
Origi has been on fringes of Liverpool’s starting Xi but however, the Belgian has made 15 appearances in total and has given dome memorable moments to his club after coming on as a substitute.
The reports have emerged that Divock Origi’s attitude and training routine at Melwood has impressed the German manager. It further explains that Liverpool are looking to offer him a new contract, as his current one runs until the end of 2020.
The 23 years old Belgian came close to seal a £22 million move to Wolves while Fulham and Tottenham were also interested in him. He could take a substantial role in Reds’ upcoming agenda and could prove to be a good option, especially in reds’ hectic run.
Jurgen Klopp has already insisted that Origi has been impressive this season. He said,
Div is doing well, really well in training,” Klopp said.
“You’re right that he didn’t have the best time as a football player or as a human being [earlier in the season], not being involved much and all that stuff.
“For sure he felt the impact of that for a while but then he came out of it. For a long time now, he’s really trained on a high level.
“If we have the opportunity to play 11 v 11 and Div is in the other team then he’s a proper challenge to deal with.
“He can play two positions at least which is good. For us, it’s very important to keep the speed on the wing. His size is also important for defensive set-pieces.
“All credit to Div, he has done really well and it’s absolutely deserved. Not one second that he’s been given has been a present this season.”
Liverpool’s pivotal part of the season has been kick started and any sleep up would cost a lot. In such phases, availability of capable back ups means a lot. Origi has played well as a substitute in many of fixtures and he could take more crucial role for the Reds in coming weeks.
