Liverpool’s pursuit of Dani Ceballos appears to have taken a turn in the Reds favour after a hotel meeting with the player
Phillipe Coutinho’s move left a gaping hole in the Reds’ midfield. The £142 million man was the heartbeat of a scintillating Liverpool side and no matter what anyone believes, the player will be missed sorely at Anfield. However, Klopp is trying his best to fill the gap as soon as possible. With the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Thomas Lemar being linked with a move, it seems that Dani Ceballos is the man who might actually be the one handpicked by Klopp himself.
The Spanish U-21 international moved to Real Madrid in the summer after a series of sensational performances for the national team. His transfer came about after he was guaranteed regular playing time at the Bernabeu. However, Zidane has not been able to keep that promise with the midfielder receiving scarce playing time. Several reports had earlier stated that Ceballos was looking for a fresh start and would love to play under Jurgen Klopp.
According to Diario Gol, Dani Ceballos has told Real Madrid that he wants to leave and wants to join Liverpool. Express And Mirror sharing this story as well. Would love him at LFC. Now, Diario Gol is reporting that a deal has been struck between the player and the club. The reports go on to state that Liverpool is not the only club interested in the Spaniard. The 21-year-old’s agent has been locked in negotiations with representatives from four other unnamed clubs.
Zinedine Zidane, however, could play spoilsport to this speculated move. Real Madrid is going through a wretched run of form. It’ll be hard to reinforce in the winter as it is and to lose one of their most promising players would be suicidal for the club.
Why is Liverpool the favourites to sign Ceballos?

The presence of Jurgen Klopp gives Liverpool an edge in the race for player’s signature. Ceballos is a reportedly huge fan of the German and would like to test his mettle under Klopp’s tutelage. Another reason is the large sum of money burning a hole in Liverpool’s pockets. The £142 million received from Barcelona have been reinvested partially but they still have huge wads of money lying around. Despite the fact that Ceballos might not command a huge fee owing to the player’s will to move, if it were to come it then Liverpool could easily hold their own in a bidding war.
Jurgen Klopp generally gets his signings spot on. He has selected Dani Ceballos to carry on from where Coutinho left off. While they are not players of similar qualities, his transfer will add a new dimension to Liverpool’s midfield.
After the Brazilian’s departure, Liverpool could be embroiled in a transfer saga involving another midfielder. It would be worth seeing whether they get a good deal this time out as well.
