Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has revealed that he wants the Reds to carry on their unbeaten run in the Premier League for the whole season.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently flying in the Premier League as they sit at the summit with 45 points after just 17 games. The Merseyside outfit has won 14 games and drawn three and is the only club in England’s top flight to not face a defeat yet.
Manchester United became the latest victims of Liverpool’s sword when they were thrashed 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday. The Red Devils fired Jose Mourinho following the defeat but Liverpool is on the opposite end of those feelings and is planning to go through the whole season unbeaten.
With 21 league games still remaining in the Premier League, Liverpool is still an extremely long way from emulating Arsenal’s unbeaten run back in 2oo4 when the Gunners managed to go unscathed to win the Premier League title. But Roberto Firmino isn’t afraid of the task that lies ahead.
In a recent talk with news outlet Express, the 27-year-old Liverpool attacker stated that his teammates are good enough to replicate an “Invincibles” feat, “Of course it’s very difficult to stay unbeaten in this league. We’ll only do it with hard work. That’s what we’ve been doing until now, including going back right to the start when we came back for pre-season.
We need to keep focused and fighting until the end to reach our goals and see where that gets us by the end of the season. This team has lofty ambitions and aims high. We are going for titles, we are a big club, and we are always fighting for trophies. We’ll continue playing well, the way we are, and we’ll see where it gets us.”
Author’s Take-
This is arguably one of the best Liverpool side’s in decades because there is a strong balance in attack and defense. With everyone working hard and towards the team goal, Liverpool can surely achieve what they want by the end of the season.
