Liverpool has done a great job in the ongoing season of the English Premier League. They are currently placed second in the points table with 33 points. The Red won 9 games, lost twice, and played out as many as 6 draws this season.
Ever since their whopping 7-0 victory against Crystal Palace in the away fixture, they dropped points in their last three PL games. They drew against West Brom at Anfield and then they again settled for a draw against Newcastle United in the away fixture.
Their most recent 1-0 defeat came against Southampton at St. Mary’s. Their ongoing form in the PL allowed their Merseyside rivals Manchester United to dominate the PL table this time. The Red Devils are on top of the points table with 36 points.
Interestingly, this is the first time they topped the table after 17 games since their title-winning season 2012-13 season. Manchester United got the better of Burnley by 1-0 in an away fixture and topped the table.
Transfer update on Koulibaly
Meanwhile, Liverpool are cleared to beat their rivals Manchester United to world-class transfer for a fee of £100m. Yes, the Reds have reportedly been told that they can recruit the services of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly for a whopping price tag.
Napoli defender has attracted interested from big European clubs for his quality. It is cognisance of the fact that the Senegal international is one of the best footballers in the world in his position. He will be a big hit if he is roped in by a top club.
As of now, Manchester United and Manchester City have been keenly observing him but the Reds are said to be long-time suitors and are desperately waiting for a new signing at the back this January.
The Reds have been dealing with many injuries lately. Virgil van Dijk’s long-term injury has indeed taken a huge hit for the Reds as the Dutch defender has been ruled out of most part of the season.
Moreover, Liverpool has also had to deal with the likes of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez who skipped a lot of games due to injuries this season. Meanwhile, Koulibaly is the right man to guide Liverpool well in the second half of the season.
If reports doing the rounds are to be believed then, he has been granted a green signal to leave Napoli on the condition that they receive £100m for the 29-year-old defender.
