Liverpool news: The Reds are interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.
Luiz has been a consistent performer for Villa since joining from Manchester City in the summer window of 2019. He has played 111 Premier League games for the Birmingham outfit so far, registering six goals and seven assists.
The 24-year-old midfielder was among the Claret and Blue’s key performers during their run to the final of the EFL Cup in 2019-20. His performances at Villa Park also earned him a place in the Brazil national squad.
He has represented his country nine times since making his debut in 2019. Luiz is in contention to make it to the Selecao final squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

According to CalcioMercatoWeb, Liverpool is planning to make an approach to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz during the January window.
Luiz is in the final year of his current contract at Villa Park. The Villians could decide to cash in for him during the winter window as opposed to letting him leave for free at the end of the season.
Jurgen Klopp have struggled with his midfield options so far this campaign. Several of the Reds’ first-team midfielders, including Thiago and Jordan Henderson, have suffered from injuries this season.
Liverpool signed Arthur Melo to end their woes during the deadline day of the summer window. But the Brazil international suffered an injury earlier this month and is expected to be out for the next three to four months.
Klopp is looking to add Luiz to his squad to get the Reds’ season back on track. However, they will face competition from Juventus, AS Milan, and AS Roma, who have also shown interest in signing him recently.
What will Douglas Luiz bring to Anfield?
Valued at £31.50 by TransferMarkt, Douglas Luiz is a tireless midfielder, known for his stamina, work rate, and passing skills. He has played eight Premier League games this season, scoring one goal.
