Liverpool Transfer news: Over the past few months, many rumours have surfaced about Liverpool going after wingers and strikers to bolster their squad. And it looks like a Villarreal winger is going to be added to this potential list.
Forwards like Ousmane Dembele, Jude Bellingham, and Dusan Vlahovic have been linked with the club. Liverpool currently play a front three of Salah, Mane, and Firmino with Diogo Jota slotting in for any of them if needed.
Liverpool in terms of depth, lack a few quality forwards and could be in more trouble come January. To add to this, the Reds would lose Salah and Mane as the duo would be playing in the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Considering this, Liverpool are monitoring the market and keeping their options ready. And one of those options seems to be Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma.
Liverpool Transfer news: Reds monitoring Arnaut Danjuma…
Arnaut Danjuma is a Dutch winger who currently represents Villarreal in LaLiga. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are monitoring the young Villarreal player.
Liverpool Echo paraphrased what the Journalist said in his Podcast. Fabrizio Romano said ” Liverpool are looking for wingers because in January they’ll be losing Salah & Mané [at the Africa Cup of Nations]. But o panic buys, only if they have a good opportunity they’ll do it. I am told Liverpool love Danjuma” as written by the Liverpool Echo.
This makes sense as Liverpool dont have enough wingers in the squad, having sold Shaqiri already in the summer. Minamino and Jota would be the only backups once Salah and Mane leave. In case of an injury, the Reds may have problems on the wings.
The 24-year old already has experience playing in the Premier League. Arnaut Danjuma has spent two seasons at Bournemouth before leaving in the summer of 2021.
At Villarreal, Danjuma has been in good form this season. The winger has 7 goals in the 14 matches that he has played. But the young winger has suffered a knee injury against Getafe which should keep him out of action till the end of November.
Liverpool transfer news: Is the transfer a realistic option for the Anfield outfit?
Given Villarreal have signed the Dutch winger only this summer, it seems unlikely that they would let go of the player in January. The winger’s market value is reportedly around £23 million currently.
Danjuma is signed to a multi-year contract with Villarreal. Hence, Liverpool may have to shell out somewhere around £40 million if they are to get in January. However, a summer move seems more realistic rather than one in January 2022.
The Reds are also said to be monitoring the situation of other players. These include Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic, Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, and Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham heading into December. It would be interesting to see how Liverpool would cope without Salah and Mane in January.
