Liverpool Transfer News: The Reds don’t have much bench strength in their attacking department. Therefore, Jurgen Klopp has made it a priority to get a forward in the next transfer window.
This season, Liverpool have equipped Salah, Mane, Firmino, and Jota in their front three in most cases. Owing to injuries and fitness problems, Firmino has only started 4 Premier League games this term.
Liverpool do have Origi and Minamino as backup, but Origi’s future is uncertain. And the Japanese, Minamino hasn’t lived up to the expectations as well and features mostly in the cup games.
Jurgen Klopp could easily use an attacker who is coming off the bench to score goals. And it seems Liverpool have a Serie A striker in their crosshairs.
Dusan Vlahovic is in the middle of a breakout season with Fiorentina in Serie A. The striker finished with 21 goals in the 2020/21 Serie A season and is looking to surpass that this term.
Vlahovic has already scored 8 goals in his 11 games played in Serie A this season. As a result, he has garnered the interest of a lot of clubs including Liverpool.
The Serbian made his professional debut at the age of 16, playing for Partizan Beograd. He is also the first Serie A player to be born in the 2000s. Owing to his potential, Fiorentina have reportedly kept an €80 million price tag on Vlahovic.
His goal-scoring prowess is certainly exceptional and would impress Jurgen Klopp. But it seems that apart from Liverpool, there is an interest from other Premier League clubs as well.
As per reports, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping an eye on the Fiorentina youngster. New Spurs boss Antonio Conte is especially interested in getting Dusan Vlahovic. With the future of Spurs captain Harry Kane uncertain, Conte would certainly want to get a striker who is confident in front of the goal.
Though the striker is having a good time in front of the goal, Liverpool.com made some key arguments as to why the striker would not be a good fit for the Reds.
Liverpool under Jürgen Klopp likes to play a forward who would pressure the opposition and would drop back. This is why Roberto Firmino has been so successful with Liverpool. But Vlahovic is more of an out-and-out striker.
Also, another thing to consider is, Liverpool haven’t had much success with tall strikers. The likes of Benteke, Caroll, and Crouch have all struggled with the Reds. Meanwhile, Antonio Conte is the opposite and likes to have a more physical striker in their team. It would make more sense if Vlahovic unites with Conte but as of now, he would be focused to take his Fiorentina team as high as possible in the Serie A table.
