Francesco Guidolin’s future looks everything but settled and Swansea’s loss to Liverpool has put another nail his coffin. Swans did look good but are themselves to blame for the loss.
Before the game, GuidolinĀ said that his job is in jeopardy if Swansea who are winless and just above the relegation are not able to beat Liverpool. Swansea were good against City last week but then conceded a penalty and lost their way, today too they were looking good to see off the game at least without a loss untill the blunder happened in their own penalty box and they ended up conceding another penalty.
Jurgen Klopp took his team to fourth win of this season’s campaign even though they had a tough outing in the drenched day in the South Wales.
Swans took an early lead with a Leroy Fer goal but Firmino’s header equalised for Liverpool who then in the dying minutes earned a penalty to grab the 3 points.
We look at the ratings for the Liverpool’s side.
Loris Karius – 5/10
Even though a lot of Anfield supporters were delighted to see him fit and back in the team, Karius had a tough game.
He mis kicked a few times and fumbled the ball and also looked in unconvincing coming out during corner kicks.
Nathaniel Clyne – 7/10
Very good display of defensive and offensive balance of football. He got out to help his forwards more often than not but also made sure that no spaces are left for Swansea down his flank.
Joel Matip – 6/10
Had a mixed game. Imposing at times but also some nervy moments. All in all had an average game after bis impressive start to the season.
Dejan Lovren – 6/10
Lovern has had a roller coaster time at Liverpool and has hardly put in a string of good performances and again looked the same. Even though he was solid but there was a rustiness to his game.
James Milner – 7/10
Again a great game for the English international who seems to be in great goalscoring form too. He was absolutely immense from the fullback position and a constant headache. Chipped in the penalty to bag the win for Liverpool.
Jordan Henderson – 7/10
Astute display in the middle of the park. Made some good decisions when the chips were down for the Scousers.
Georginio Wijnaldum – 6/10
He looked very off color this afternoon and unlike his menacing composing self. In the first half he looked very lost but picked up himself after the Firmino goal.
Adam Lallana – 4/10
Subbed off too early in the game due to injury to make an impact.
Sadio Mane – 7/10
Struggled to make any impact in the first half, Mane was back to his threatening best in the second half and looked extremely menacing.
Philippe Coutinho – 6/10
Disappointing first half but changed his gears after the first half and was involved heavily in every Liverpool attack.
Roberto Firmino – 7/10
The Brazilian was quite involved and also tracked back to help while he was off the ball. One of the brightest performers for Liverpool.
Substitutes –
Daniel Sturridge – 6/10
Came on to replace an injured Adam Lallana. Was a real danger in a and around the penalty box.
Emre Can – Subbed on too late.
Divock Origi – Subbed on too late.
