Lopetegui asks Perez to sign two players before the transfer window closes

Real Madrid manager wants to make two new additions to his squad before the transfer window closes and he has already made it clear to the President.

Despite winning the first two league games, Real Madrid is a work in progress and the manager wants to strengthen his team in order to continue the winning momentum. And although there is not going to be a direct Cristiano Ronaldo replacement in this transfer window, Julen Lopetegui has asked Perez to sign two new players.

Two New additions?

According to Don Balon, former La Roja manager wants another centre-forward in the squad and Valencia’s Rodrigo is his favourite. Despite Benzema’s great start to the season, Real Madrid wants to add another prolific goal scorer to the squad. Rodrigo would be a great addition, given his 16 goals in La Liga last season. The striker also made it to Spain’s World Cup squad after his goal-laden season. Rodrigo opened his account for this season with a goal against Atletico Madrid in the season opener.

But Lopetegui’s priority would be to strengthen his defence after conceding five goals in three games this season so far. The manager is not happy with the performance of Varane and Ramos in the first few games wants to bring Bayern Munich centre-back, Jerome Boateng. The German has been linked with a move away from the Bavarians in the last few weeks and Los Blancos could use it to their advantage.

The transfer window in Spain closes on the 31st August and Lopetegui wants to bring both the players before that. Madrid is expected to be busy in the next few days with the team still waiting to make another addition to the squad after Courtois’s move. The Belgian moved to Madrid in a €35m move from Chelsea.

Los Blancos will be in action next week with a game against Leganes. Lopetegui’s men are on the top of the table with six points in two games so far.

Author’s Take:

Real Madrid needs another goal scorer in the team and Rodrigo can do that job to perfection. But in the case of Jerome Boateng, Madrid need to look into other options first as the German has been in a poor form in the last few months. Anyway, they need to act quickly in order to seal the deals before 31st August.
