Real Madrid are looking to sign 19-year-old Fulham full-back Ryan Sessegnon ahead of Manchester United
Real Madrid’s 3-0 El Classico loss showed up several deficiencies in the squad. The club often considered to have the best roster in Europe last season let some of their most important players go. Alvaro Morata, Jame Rodriguez and Pepe left for a total amount unbefitting of their talent.
The players that Real Madrid bought, on the other hand, were not ready to challenge the first team players on a regular basis. Notably, only one of Real Madrid’s summer signings made it into the first team squad against Barcelona. Madrid is yet to reap the rewards of their latest transfer strategy. However, it seems that they are ready to stick by it given the latest player being linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

The reigning European Champions have set their sights on another teenage sensation. Fulham full-back Ryan Sessegnon is on Madrid’s radar. The 17-year-old has earned rave reviews from several clubs in England. Manchester United seem to be the front-runners to sign the full-back. The Guardian recently reported that Red Devils are preparing a £25 million bid for Sessegnon.
It seems as though the Whites are also looking at Sessegnon as an alternative to Theo Hernandez. The young Frenchman was bought from Atletico Madrid this summer as a long-term successor to Marcelo.
The England under-19 international has earned praise for his attacking style of play. The left-back has several times been deployed further up the field to use his attacking talents to their fullest. Meanwhile, Marca is reporting that the player’s camp seems to favour a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
It is admirable of Real Madrid to stick their guns and plan for the long term instead of splashing the cash on stop gap players. Ryan Sessegnon is a talented player who has already earned admiring glances from Manchester United and Tottenham. I personally believe that at this point the move won’t benefit either party involved.
Real Madrid will be getting a player in a department that doesn’t need beefing up for now. Theo Hernandez is an ability deputy to Marcelo, while the Brazilian still has good 2-3 years ahead of him. It’d be better for Sessegnon to stay at Fulham where he will get regular game time.
