Mahmudullah retirement: Bangladesh all Rounder MahmudUllah has called it a day after playing 12 years of international test cricket.

Mahmudullah retirement: Another Bangladesh Cricketer has announced his retirement after playing 12 years of international test cricket. All-Rounder Mahmudullah has called it a day today by saying, “It’s right time to leave and let the youngsters be the part of red-ball cricket for Bangladesh”.

All-rounder has made his test debut in 2009 and played 50 tests in which scored 2,914 runs at an average of 33.49 which included five centuries and 16 half-centuries. While as a bowling all-rounder he has taken 43 wickets in his Test career.

In the six tests, MahmudUllah has led the Bangladesh test team and recently he has played his 50th test against Zimbabwe in which Bangladesh has clinched 220 runs victory. All-rounder has declared man of the match for his unbeaten 150* knock.

In the interaction today Mahmudullah has said, “Leaving a format of which I have been a part of for such a long time is not easy. I had always thought of going on a high and I believe this is the right time to end my Test career“.

Very fortunate and thankful to my teammates and the support staff for always encouraging me and believing in my ability. It has been an absolute honour and privilege to play Test cricket for Bangladesh and I will cherish the many memories.

Mahmudullah retirement: Bangaldesh star to continue to play ODI and T20s

All-rounder Mahmudullah has retired from test cricket but he will continue playing limited-overs fixtures for the national team.

“Although I am retiring from Tests, I will still be playing ODIs and T20 internationals and really looking forward to continue giving my best for my country in white ball cricket.”

This announcement from all-rounder Mahmudullah comes before the Pakistan test series which will commence after two days. Though he was not picked up for the red ball cricket series against Pakistan.

1. Mahmudullah 150* versus Zimbabwe, 2021

Ground – Harare

Returning to the test cricket after a long time for Bangladesh. The all-rounder has scored unbeaten 150 runs against Zimbabwe and helped his side to register the victory by 220 runs. In the match, he had also added 191 runs partnership with Taskin Ahmed for the ninth wicket.

2. Mahmudullah 146 vs New Zealand, 2019

Ground – Hamilton

One of the best test knocks of a rounder came at the losing cause for the team. During the second innings of Bangladesh, the all-rounder has scored 146 runs against the Kiwis strong pace attack where other Bangladeshi had failed to score.

Alongside Soumya Sarkar, he had added 235 runs partnership for the fifth wicket. But still, his side lost the match by 52 runs and innings.
