Reports in Greece claim that Celtic are tracking the 35-year-old former Barcelona and City star, Yaya Toure.
The 35-year-old Yaya Toure has been without a club since leaving Olympiakos last month and would be free to join the Scottish champions in the January window. Though he has eyed a return to one of Europe’s elite, an offer has yet to materialise and it’s reported that Celtic have jumped at the opportunity.
The midfielder completed an eight-year spell with Manchester City last summer, leaving the club at the end of the season. The Ivorian has had a storied career at City and Barcelona. He has won everything club football has to offer. However, Pep Guardiola’s arrival at both City and Barca saw his time come to an end at either clubs.
His next stop was a short one, as Toure rejoined Olympiakos, the team he had spent the 2005-06 season with. Despite only signing in September, Toure’s contract was terminated three months later via mutual consent.

Yaya’s brother, Kolo, is on the coaching staff at Celtic having been one of Brendan Rodgers’ first signings when he took over as manager. The centre-back incidentally became the only player to complete two unbeaten top-flight seasons in Europe. First under Arsene Wenger and then in his first season under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.
Yaya Toure, who has over 100 caps for the Ivory Coast, has won three English Premier League titles, two La Liga titles, five national cups and the 2009 Champions League over his distinguished career.
Yaya Toure has confirmed interest from Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic though he says he must speak with Brendan Rodgers the manager of Celtic football club before any decision is made.
He is a versatile player and signing him will strengthen the Celts squad who currently have a very slender lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
