Samuel Umtiti has become a surplus in Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona. The Frenchman is likely to make an exit this window. After his new gaffer had asked the defender to find a new club. Sport, reports that Manchester United and Arsenal are among other top clubs, with interest.

Barcelona has had a very dramatic touch both on and off the field lately. Ronald Koeman has taken the charge as their new boss implementing some changes already. The Dutchman has already sold five first-team players to get a slash down on their huge wage bill. Reports hint that Samuel Umtiti is likely to be the next man walking out the door.

The Frenchman came to Camp Nou back in 2016 from Lyon. The €25m defensive ace had a very good season in France. Which led to Barcelona signing him the following season.

Umtiti was able to keep the same form at Barcelona before he was troubled by injuries. The defender was out with injury for a majority of last season as well. Summing up just 18 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions.

Koeman has already made it clear that Umtiti is not a part of his plans. Hence, his agent is searching for ideal destinations for the defender to move. Besides the Premier League clubs, Inter Milan

, Lyon, and Rennes are also suitors for the defender.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal are keen to add a defender to their squad. The clubs have had their own problems in the backline last season. Which has cost a lot for the English clubs? Hence, they are keen to resolve the issue before the transfer window closes.

Manchester United have been searching for an ideal partner for Harry Maguire. Victor Lindelof has been the choice lately, but he has been in and out of form. Costing United severely at some very costly games. Eric Bailey is also a defensive option for Ole Gunnar. But the ace faces injury troubles making it hard for United to depend on him.

Hence, United are reportedly eyeing the possibility to make a move for Umtiti. But United are not alone in the hunt as Arsenal also looks for a defensive recruit. Mikel Arteta made the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes a few weeks back. But Arsenal are still in search for an ideal partner for the youngster.

Samuel Umtiti fits well into Arteta’s search and is an option to consider. But Barcelona may not let go of him for free yet. Arteta must make a bid fast if he is keen to secure the world cup winner. United also has an interest in the defender along with his former club Lyon.

Inter Milan are also eyeing the possibility of signing the Frenchman. But it depends completely on the future of Milan Skriniar. The defensive ace is hinting to make an exit with the United eye him also. Should he choose to part ways this summer, Inter may sign Umtiti to cover the void.

But Umtiti’s injury history is a concern for Antonio Conte. Lyon are also keen to see their former star return. The French outfit is also a favored option for the defender to choose from. But Lyon finds the financial side of the deal a bit too out of their reach.

French outfit Rennes also have made their interests clear. Samuel Umtiti will have to choose wisely as he has just a few more years left to play at his peak. Most of his playing career in Barcelona was tarnish by injuries. Anyhow, a departure from Barcelona looks imminent as the Catalans look to rebuild their club from scratch.
