Manchester United had mixed performances in the starting phase of their season. They were good and awful at times. However, as the game progressed, the Red Devils eventually managed to switch gears to the next level. Now, they are on a different version altogether.
They are just 5 points below their Merseyside rivals, Liverpool, with a game in hand. Man United are placed third in the Premier League points table with 26 points. They secured 8 victories, played out 2 draws, and lost 3 games so far in the campaign.
The Red Devils scored 28 goals and conceded 21 in the PL. Bruno Fernandes has by far been the top player for Ole’s team. He scored 9 goals and gave 5 assists. Marcus Rashford is the next best player as he scored 5 goals and provided 4 assists in the PL.
Ole’s team came under fire after getting knocked out of the UEFA Champions League. They finished third in the points table below PSG and RB Leipzig. Man United will lock horns with Real Sociedad in the Europa League Round of 32 fixture.

They will play an away fixture on February 18, 2020, before returning to the home leg at Old Trafford on February 26. The Red Devils will take on Watford in the FA Cup clash on January 10. Ole Gunnar’s team recently knocked Everton out of the Carabao Cup at Goodison Park.
The Red Devils scored 2 goals against the Toffees and concluded the quarter-final on a good note. Man United earned praises for keeping a clean sheet. However, Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not completely happy with Edinson Cavani’s display.
Manchester United boss Ole not happy with Cavani’s performance
The game was evenly poised in the first half. Both teams had their fair share of shots on target. While it looked like the match was heading for a draw, Edin Cavani scored in the 88th minute.
Anthony Martial who has been struggling to score goals this season scored the goal in the 96th minute. Ole criticized Cavani despite the vital goal. The boss believes that the former PSG player should have netted more than one goal in their 2-0 win over Everton.
Addressing the reporters at the post-match presentation, Ole said he expected more from Cavani. When asked about what he thought of Cavani’s goal, Ole told Sky Sports: “Not bad.”
“Which one? Maybe the three he should have scored in the first half!” he said. Ole also praised Cavani by saying: “He’s a top striker. Movement, quality, and of course the left-foot strike was excellent.”
Ole’s team will host Man City in the semi-finals
Man United will now host Pep Guardiola’s men in the Carabao Cup semi-finals. The Manchester derby will go all guns blazing at Old Trafford on January 7.
Earlier, when both teams met each other in the Premier League, the match ended in a boring draw. The second semi-final will be between Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford on January 6.
