United was showing interest in Atletico’s Kieran Trippier but a 10-week ban has ruined plans.
Manchester United are looking to make some moves in the January transfer window. Ole has done a decent job in the Premier League so far. The real challenge for Manchester united is whether they can keep up their good work.
For quite some period of time inconsistency has been the biggest problem for United. Even this season they have managed to get themselves knocked out of the Champions League after leading the group for quite some time.
Ole Gunner has done a good job with summer acquisitions. But United might be looking for more players to add diversity and depth within the squad. As of now, almost all positions have a number of players contending for the first team slot, except for the right-back position.
Wan Bissaka has been great for United and he has played in most of the games for the club. But United do not have a back up for him should he get injured or has a bad run of form. Also, Wan Bissaka isn’t that great going forward.
This is why Manchester United are looking at the second option in form Kieran Trippier. As per reports from Talk Sport, United was looking to make a formal approach for Trippier but his 10-week ban has complicated things.
Trippier has filed an appeal with FIFA but the situation is quite edgy right now. Trippier could provide competition and guidance for Wan Bissaka as he is a player with tons of experience in the Premier League as well as Europe.
Brandon Williams could be loaned in the January window
This will be a key window for United, not only in terms of players coming in but also players going out. Rojo and Romero and 2 players which the club has already said are available for sale. The arrival of Amad Diallo also puts questions on James’ role in the team.
With the option of Diallo and Greenwood Ole might well decide to loan out Dan James. Another such player is Brandon Williams. Williams saw a breakthrough in his career when he came in to fill Shaw’s vacancy.
To his credit, Williams did a decent enough job when he got the opportunity. But after the arrival of Alex Telles, the youngster hasn’t seen much game time as Shaw and Telles are usually in rotation at the left-back position.
Williams certainly has potential that much he proved last season. A loan spell could be good for his own development as he would get more game time in the first team. United has said that there were offers for him.
Ole Personally blocked his loan move to Southampton at the start of the season. But now things are different and Manchester United are willing to change their approach for Williams.
According to Transfer market expert, Alex Crook Newcastle and Bayern Leverkusen are the two teams who are currently showing interest in United’s Brandon Williams. Ole may prefer to send Williams out of the Premier League considering his view on a loan to Southampton.
