Manchester United has a decent history of signing big-name players from their direct competitive sides. Red Devils look to do the same.
Red Devils have signed two big-name players from rivals Chelsea in recent times. Juan Mata in 2014 and Nemanja Matic in 2017, both midfielders were highly appreciated players at Stamford Bridge. Now star defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante is a high profile target for Manchester United.
Kante has been strongly linked with a move away in this transfer window. Real Madrid and Inter Milan are also interested in signing of the French midfielder.
The 29-year-old holding midfielder has been inconsistent form for Chelsea since his arrival in London in 2016. But last season he was not up to the expectations, mostly due to injury and fitness issues.
Kante has won an English player of the season with both Leicester City and Chelsea. He also won French footballer of the year in 2017 and now is an integral part of the World Champions.
Frank Lampard want to invest Kante sale in Rice
West Ham defensive midfielder Declan Rice is one of the players Lampard wants to sign since he took Chelsea’s manager role. According to reports, Blue’s Legend is a big admirer of the 21-year-old English sensation.
West Ham are willing to sell Rice to London counterparts but holding for the right transfer fee. Lampard has already spent huge money on big signings at Stamford Bridge. So in order to acquire his dream target, he needs to make funds available by selling players.
Kante will be hard to get replaced by any player but Rice can eventually step up to that role. So selling Kante to United will be a not that bad move for Chelsea if they get Rice from that money.
Manchester United are ready to make a £72m offer for N’Golo Kante
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in signing a new defensive midfielder at Old Trafford. Kante will be a dream signing for the Red Devils to partner with Paul Pogba and Donny Van De Beek in center of midfield.
United recently used Matic and Mctominay in a defensive midfield role. But £72m for N’Golo Kante will be a huge declaration for United if the deal goes through.
