Man United defensive target closing on Real Madrid switch!

Real Madrid are reportedly close to finalising a deal after seeing off competition from a number of clubs.

Real Madrid this season are not only poor in attacking a third of the pitch but are also poor in the defensive area. The constant injuries to Marcelo and Carvajal this season has led to their shaky defense. Also, the ageing of Marcelo and Sergio Ramos has led to Madrid looking for a young replacement of them. It seems Real Madrid are just a signature away from signing this player.

Porto’s Brazilian centre back Eder Militao is reportedly on the cusp of signing for Spanish giants Real Madrid for 50 million euros. Real Madrid are determined to lure him away from Porto, where he has shone as a 21-year-old and only needed a matter of months to become wanted by all of Europe’s elite clubs. With so many interested, Madrid moved fastest and raced ahead of the competition. So much so, that only the player’s signature is missing and preventing his move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu becoming official.

Eder Gabriel Militao is one of the latest to emerge in Brazil and he knows that he is about to make a giant leap in his career. Militao has generated interest from top clubs around Europe with his performances this season for Porto, but Real Madrid have been the most decisive of the lot and have swooped in to virtually guarantee the transfer in the summer.

And they’ve had to be, as the Brazilian reportedly has a release clause of 50 million euros should the deal be completed before July 15 this year, but that figure rises to €75 million should that date be exceeded.

The move for Militao comes on the back of rumours that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will be looking to overhaul an ageing squad in the summer and inject it with fresh blood. Militao was initially a right back. But has moved centrally – like Sergio Ramos – with time. He has intelligence, an impressive wingspan and has agility too. The ex- Sao Paolo star has drawn comparisons with Pepe for his courage, anticipation, style of play, and reading of the game.

Having only arrived last summer, Militao has swiftly become an established member of Porto ‘s starting XI. Real Madrid representatives have watched the defender live in recent weeks. The scouting reports have been positive, with his personal and professional personality being praised. Since arriving in Europe, Militao has played 12 league games, five in the Champions League and another three in the cup. He made his senior international debut for Brazil in September 2018.

Author’s Take:

Real Madrid want the player and the player wants to join the club too. Given the lackluster performance of the likes of Bale, Benzema and Asensio, Real should sign an attacker.
