The exit of Mourinho left the player tracking of Dalot and newly appointed Ole Gunner Solskjaer was focusing on the short-term results of the team in order to settle in the new role. The Norwegian was not at all aware of the future of the team in his first season.
The €35 m signing of Aaron Wan Bissaka from Crystal Palace in 2019 was another hit in the playing time of Dalot. Ole preferred Wan-Bissaka as the first choice in the wing-back position. The 23-year-old Englishmen was quite impressed with the ball in the wide area.
He was more aggressive in attacking moves long with defensive skills. The consistency of Wan-Bissaka kept Dalot on the bench for a long time. United find a solution and put the player on loan to AC Milan.

Dalot still has future with United?
Diogo Dalot’s contract in Old Trafford lasts till 2023. It was a fact that the player got more playing time in AC Milan comparing the season outings in Manchester. In the return plans, things are not promising for Dalot as United is taking high pressure from the contenders.
The title challenge is stronger than the previous seasons and ole must keep his first eleven fits for big clashes. In that sense, more options will help United to take away the games without risks. Dalot has improved after his Italian camp and the player is promising in the right-back position along with the centre-backs.
He can also take the role of a full back which is not a requirement for United as per current prospects. Ole is looking for more midfield and attacking options from the January window. The situation in Italy is tight for Milan.
The champions Juventus is facing issues in the table. If Milan can continue the current pace and Dalot can find a permanent position in the line-up, a permanent deal is within the reach.
He can still win the deal in Italy but needed much effort regardless of the playing time. The situation is bot challenging in Italy and England. The season stat will decide the future of the player in Old Trafford. Another season of loan is a far chance for the player and if things go well for United this season, Dalot can expect a place Under Ole.
