Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held his nerves and transformed his team into potential title contenders. Manchester United are now sitting on top of the points table in the English Premier League. The Red Devils secured 40 points from 12 wins and 4 draws.
Earlier, Manchester United had a mixed run of spells in the starting phase of the season. Tottenham Hotspurs beat the Red Devils by 6-1 at Old Trafford. Most of them thought that the Red Devils would be out of the top 4 race.
They registered a series of disappointing results at home including their 0-1 defeat to Arsenal. After they were knocked out of the Champions League, reports stated that Ole Gunnar’s days at Man United are just numbered. However, the Red Devils turned things around like a hot knife through butter.
The first half of the EPL season has already been over. So far, Man United lost just 3 games in the ongoing campaign. On the other hand, their rivals Manchester City are second in the table with 38 points with one game in hand.

Pep Guardiola’s Man City will lock horns with West Brom in an away fixture. If Man City wins the next game, then they would go on top of the table. Bruno Fernandes has by far been the top quality player for Man United this season.
The Portuguese international chipped in with 11 goals and 7 assists in 19 games. He also broke the Premier League record as he won Player of the Month four times in a row. He also became the first footballer in the English top-flight to achieve the feat.
United manager on Koulibaly
With the winter transfer window currently open, top clubs are quite busy searching for the right players. Meanwhile, the Red Devils are linked with Napoli star defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
It’s been reported that the centreback would love to come to Old Trafford with Ole’s team chosen as his top destination should he leave Napoli. Ole rates Senegal international equal to that of Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
Spanish newspaper Marca claimed that Koulibaly could be finally bid adieu to Napoli to join the table-toppers Man United. Ole reckons that Napoli star defender is one of the best three centre-backs in the present era. Koulibaly has been a massive asset for Napoli in recent years.
Kalidou Koulibaly is not for sale: Napoli President
TalkSPORT host Jim White claimed Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis doesn’t see Koulibaly leaving his club behind. “There isn’t a window in the last two, three or four that we don’t see big mentions of the Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly,” White said.
He dismissed the speculations adding that he isn’t for sale. It pretty much seems that the star defender is going nowhere. “He stays and that was as recent as this morning.”
“Anyone going in with anything other than £100million for Koulibaly can forget it. He’s absolutely not for sale unless one of the big clubs in England come up with £100million,” Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis added in a statement.
