Man United seriously interested in £40M alternative to Sancho

Manchester United is seeking for an ideal winger this summer. After falling out in the Sancho deal, United are looking for a cheaper alternative.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was hoping to land Jadon Sancho this summer. But despite rigorous efforts from Manchester United. Borussia Dortmund are still keeping the bars high for any suitors. Hence, the red devils have been in search for a cheaper alternative to the Englishman. United has been eyeing a list of suitable candidates lately.

Bournemouth forward David Brooks is also a target of United as per reports. Though Brooks was out with injury for most of the season that just got over. Manchester United seems to be impressed with the youngster’s performance in the previous season. David Brooks was out for almost the whole season having to undergo ankle surgery.

The Welshman made only 9 appearances this season. And was still able to net a goal for the cherries. Bournemouth are evaluating the star at a price of around £40m. The cherries have lost a spot in the top-flight after the recent relegation. Hence, most of their stars are likely to make an exit soon. But yet, they don’t seem to ease over in their negotiations.

Bournemouth recently sold Nathan Ake to Manchester City

for £41m. A price is more than double to what they invested in the defender. So the club despite lacking vigor in the game has strong tactics in the market. United will try to press and reduce the funds if possible. But the asking price seems to be fair and much cheaper to the £108m for Sancho.

Bournemouth is having good business

Though the cherries have been struggling at the bottom of the league. They are pretty good at the business. Bournemouth did ship away Nathan Ake for 41m recently. And has now put up Callum Wilson available along with David Brooks. They have priced their stars at an unquestionable rate as well. Bournemouth are demanding £30m for Callum and £40m for Brooks.

The club has also agreed to ship one of their stars for a cut-price, via Daily Mail. Tottenham was hoping to utilize the fact to swoop Callum as a cover for Harry Kane. But Bournemouth has brushed off the rumors of shipping the forward for less than £30m. Hence Spurs will have to make the complete payment to pen down a deal.

United on the other hand may be able to get a cut in the asking price. Brooks is a formidable winger and will fit into Ole’s system. And if the rumors are true, United may sign him for a lower fee. With the pandemic causing financial problems Ed Woodward has been raising worries. Which is why the Old Trafford side has been mute in the window so far.

But they will still be looking to land some key signings this summer. After their Europa League defeat, United are considering defensive recruitments. Though Manchester were the favorites to lift the title. United lost the game 2-1 against former champions Sevilla. Thus, United have yet another trophy-less season.

Ole is planning to bring some new stars

It seems as though the Old Trafford club is depending way too much on penalties. The side has been scoring only through penalty kicks in the last few games. Hence, Ole is looking to make some changes to his squad. The Norwegian has certain key areas to focus on.

Manchester are seeking a defensive option this summer. Along with a new goalkeeper to cover for David de Gea. The right-wing is also an area of focus for him. With the Sancho deal still off the books, alternatives are to come this summer. David Brooks seems to be the most suitable in terms of a transfer fee.

United are keen on limiting their spendings this summer. Ed Woodward has also made it clear that the club will not make any superstar signings. But with Ole demanding certain fixes, United will have to open their treasury a little bit more.
