Facundo Pellestri is one of United’s young recruits this season.
This is Manchester United’s third season under Ole Gunner Solskjaer. While the team showed promise last year this season will be key both for the club and the manager.
United has not won a single trophy under Ole Gunner Solskjaer. For all their promise they have yet to deliver any goods. Last season there were calls of improving the depth and adding some good players to the squad.
Manchester United biggest target was Dortmund’s, Jadon Sancho. But the club found themselves priced out as they could not meet Dortmund’s 100 million+ price tag for Sancho. However United have made some good signings.
Ole has taken a balanced approach to recruitment this season. Pellestri and Diallo have been the young recruits for United, Van De Beek and Telles come as experienced player whereas Cavani comes in as a veteran.
United lost to City in the Carabao Cup semi-final but they still have a lot to fight for. Amad Diallo officially made his move to the club and Ole will be hoping the infusion of young blood will add another dimension to the team.
Pellestri too has been very impressive playing for United’s youth team. The player was all set to get his first appearance for Manchester United but things have gone south for him.
Facundo Pellestri tests’ positive losing out on his first appearance for the club
Facundo Pellestri has been a good pickup for Manchester United. United completed his signing for around $7.65 million from Penarol which is an Uruguayan club. Pellestri has shown promise and was set to feature in the FA Cup tie against Watford.
However Equipo TMA the players’ representative agency has confirmed that he will be out as he has tested positive for Covid-19. This will be a setback for the player but he’ll find his opportunity soon enough.
As of now, there is no official confirmation from Manchester United’s side but this is a rather trustable source and the 19-year-old will miss out on the game. This will be a disappointment to many fans who were excited to see him in action.
However, one good thing is that Pellestri isn’t showing any symptoms which leads us to believe that he is asymptomatic and this will not be a rather serious affair for the player.
The club and the fans will wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully, he can make his first start for the club very soon. He has a ton of potential and Manchester United fans would love to see him flourish.
