Man United vs Wolves: Preview, Team News, Line-up and Prediction

Manchester United is all set to host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday evening’s showdown. Both sides come into this game from a point in their weekend fixtures.

Wolves need points to climb up the ladder as they are out of top ten positions in the Premier League table at the moment. The victory at Old Trafford will be vital for the Wolves to move up in the table for a better finish to the season.

Man United’s away form this season has been sensational. The club had an unbeaten winning streak of 10-game before facing Leicester last week. However, Axel Tuanzebe’s own goal ensured Leicester to walk away with a point in a thrilling game.

Leaving away records aside, United are unbeaten in their last eight games in Premier League, which has helped them to maintain a top-four position in the league table. Meanwhile, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side lost against Burnley before Christmas and managed a draw on Sunday evening with Spurs.

Tuanzebe might take his position to redeem for his mistake on boxing day against the Foxes. Edinson Cavani might start alongside Anthony Martial to spearhead the attack.

Expected Line-up: De Gea; Tuanzebe, Maguire, Bailly, Telles; Fred, McTominay; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Cavani

While Rayan Ait Nouri might star in place of him at Old Trafford. Other Wolves’ players to miss out on this game with injuries are Raul Jiminez, Jonny Otto, Leander Dendoncker, and Willy Bolly.

Expected Line-up: Patricio; Semedo, Coady, Saiss, Ait Nouri; Neves, Moutinho; Traore, Podence, Neto; Silva

United vs Wolves: Head to head stats

In the last 16 previous encounters between the two sides, Manchester United hold the clear cut advantage. They have won nine games, lost three, and drawn four. The last encounter between these two ended in a stalemate at Old Trafford with a scoreline of 0-0.

Edinson Cavani

The veteran striker has been in good form when called upon. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford have been brilliant for the Red Devils this term. But, Cavani has been sensational silently in the limited game time. Former PSG star has been Ole’s go-to man with his other strikers not in great form.

The Uruguayan striker did assist the crucial goal for United on the boxing day. He gave a delightful through ball into the box for Bruno Fernandes after coming in the second half. He is the man, who can produce an immediate impact in the game even in the second half.

Fabio Silva

The young Portuguese striker is playing his debut season in Premier League. The lad had huge hype after signing in favor of the Wolves and the youngster is yet to justify the claims.

The 18-year-old needs to step-up for Nuno Espirito with Raul Jiminez ruled out with a major injury. However, it’s too early to ask more from the Portuguese, who has a goal in ten appearances so far. He missed a great opportunity inside the box against Spurs, which could’ve sealed them three points in the last game.

Final Score Prediction

United might have the advantage on their hands with their current run of form. Wolves do have a good bench strength amid a number of injuries in their squad. It’ll be a tight contest, but United might just escape with three points from this encounter. The final scoreline might be 1-0 in favor of United.
