Man Utd give update on Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial injuries.

Both the players couldn’t play the entire 90 minutes.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s unbeaten run came to an end as Paris Saint Germain defeated Manchester United by 2-0. Goals from Kylian Mbappe and Presnel Kimpembe gave the Ligue 1 champions crucial away goals. For United the defeat came with many wounds. Paul Pogba was sent off, they could face actions from UEFA as well. The likes of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard got injured as well. Manchester United give update on the injuries of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard.

Manchester United are sweating on the fitness of Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial ahead of next week’s FA Cup clash against Chelsea. The duo limped out of Tuesday night’s Champions League defeat against PSG and will be assessed in the next couple of days. Lingard and Martial were forced off with muscle problems and they now face a race against time to be ready for the fifth round tie at Chelsea on February 24. Lingard pulled up shortly before half-time in the first leg of the last 16 tie at Old Trafford with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. He played on after receiving treatment but was replaced by Alexis Sanchez during first-half stoppage time. Martial was injured earlier in the game. He played on until the interval but did not reappear for the second half. His place was taken by Juan Mata.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keeping his fingers crossed the pair don’t face extended spells out. He said, “Jesse and Anthony give us something, let’s hope they’re not too serious. You don’t know, muscular injuries – hamstring, groin, so we’ll have to have a couple of days to assess them. They’re muscle injuries, so we’ll just have to wait a couple of days. “

Author’s Take:

It’s a big blow to Manchester United. Considering the fact that they will be without Pogba, it will be interesting to see what the playing XI will be. Not only their Champions League journey is in threat but the race to finish in top 4 in Premier League is also in jeopardy. United will surely miss the pace of both in the coming weeks.
