Manchester City 1-1 Everton : Player Ratings Of Pep Guardiola’s Side, As City Drop Two Crucial Points

Pep Guardiola’s great start to the season was halted by Brendan Rodgers in Champions league and then Pochettino made him taste his first defeat in England. There was a little backstory before Pep Guardiola faced Ronald Koeman for the first time as opposition manager. Having been under the wings of Koeman and learned most of his crafts from him, Pep welcomed his old master at Etihad and had the pressure to take out Manchester City from little blip.

Koeman had a great start to his season too and his team were the first to score the goal but soon after City equalised. Aguero and De Bruyne both missed the penalties which costed City dearly.

Claudio Bravo – 7/10

Very little to do all throughout the game apart from the Lukaku goal, for which he couldn’t have done anything.

Nicholas Otamendi – 6/10

Some reckless challenges which put in unnecessary pressure on Manchester City but apart from that he was solid in his display.

John Stones – 7/10

A great outing again for the Englishman. A new system but was confident about his game and looked very comfortable on the ball.

Gael Clichy – 6/10

Was caught out for the Lukaku Goal and looked very uncomfortable at times in the new system.

Fernandinho – 7/10

The Brazilian again was one of City’s best players on the pitch. He broke down every Everton attack and sprayed in the ball forward very well.

Ilkay Gudogan – 7/10

German had the license to roam around and play his natural game but he also got back and helped to get the ball back when Everton had the ball.

Leroy Sane – 6.5/10

His best game so far for Manchester City, he was the brightest player for City on the pitch. He was making things happen for them in the first half but faded a little in the second half.

Raheem Sterling – 6/10

Not at his usual best of so far this season. Worked hard but nothing seemed to be happening for him and couldn’t break the astute Everton defense.

Kevin De Bruyne – 7/10

Apart from his penalty he looked to be well and truly back from his injury and Manchester City should be happy to have him for game against Barcelona midweek. His stunning long range shot was also kept out by Stekenlenberg.

David Silva – 7/10

The Spaniard was pulling the strings for Manchester City in attack and was dominating the game. His passes were too intricate to deal for Everton’s defense. Also put in a sumptuous cross to set Nolito for his goal.

Kelechi Ihenacho – 5/10

Pep started hum ahead of Aguero and that was youngsters big chance to put in a great performance and keep the manager’s faith but he failed to do so. He didn’t look to be up for the big challenge.

Substitutes:

Sergio Aguero – 5/10

Good when he came on, won a penalty only to miss it later.

Nolito – 7/10

Scored the all important goal to make the scores level for City. Really impactful.

Vincent Kompany – 4/10

Sent in the 90th minute as a striker to head in the goal.
