Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hit back at Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s comments over Erling Haaland. According to Ibrahimovic, Erling Haaland is failing to reach his full potential due to Guardiola’s ego.

The former Barcelona striker is comparing his past Barcelona situation to Haaland’s City situation now. Ibra did not have a pleasant experience under Guardiola when he joined in 2009. He just lasted at Camp Nou for only one season. The Spanish giant offloaded him to AC Milan.

Ibrahimovic did not receive attention due to Messi’s brilliance and the whole team is built around the Argentine.

In his autobiographical book, the Swedish striker hit out his former manager for mistreating him. The striker also claimed that the manager always walked out of the dressing room whenever he entered.

Right now, the Norwegian is the leading goal scorer with 18 goals in just 12 Premier League games. He has a total of 23 goals in all competitions.

The striker has just joined Manchester City this season. The City side decided to activate the €60 million release clause in the striker’s Borrusia Dortmund contract this summer. The Norwegian signed a five-year deal with the club. Despite having several concerns, Haaland has just torn apart all the Premier League clubs’ defenses.

A few weeks back, former United and City goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel shared his thoughts on Haaland on BBC Radio 5 Live. He spoke: “That Zlatan-like goal, and Ronaldo is in there too. You see the top, top strikers in one.” That did not stop there. Former city defender Joleon Lescott compared Haaland to Ibrahimovic as well.

While talking to Canal Plus, Ibrahimovic said on Haaland:  “Do I like Haaland? Yes, very much so. I think he is a very intelligent player.”
