Manchester City cruised to a comfortable victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, defeating the Seagulls 3-1.
Man City hosted Brighton at the Etihad Stadium in their latest fixture, and it was a brace from Erling Haaland and a stunner from Kevin de Bruyne that earned Pep Guardiola’s men all three points.
City broke the deadlock and took the lead through the sensational Haaland in the 22nd minute of the match. Haaland ran on to a sensational long ball from Ederson that bypassed the Brighton defenders and he rounded Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez with his first touch.
The Norwegian international then shouldered Adam Webster aside before rolling the ball into an empty end to send Man City 1-0 up.

City doubled their lead in the 43rd minute of the match, converting a penalty. Lewis Dunk’s trailing leg caught Bernardo Silva inside the Brighton penalty box. After looking at the monitor following VAR advice, the referee awarded City a penalty.
Haaland, who scored City’s opener in the game, stepped up to take the penalty and slammed the ball home to establish a two-goal cushion.
Brighton started the second half strongly and halved their deficit in the 53rd minute of the match. It was Leandro Trossard who scored the goal for Brighton. He drilled the ball into the near post, and Man City goalkeeper Ederson could not keep it out.
Man City, however, re-established their two-goal lead in the 75th minute of the match. De Bruyne unleashed a long-ranger into the net after receiving the ball from Bernardo Silva. It was an absolute stunner from the Belgian midfielder to send Man City 3-1 up.
The win takes Man City to within a point of table-toppers Arsenal. The defending Premier League champions have 26 points from their first 11 matches in the league this season. The Gunners meanwhile have 27 points, but they also have a game in hand.
Man City have eight wins, two draws, and one defeat so far in the English top-flight in the 22/23 season. Their only defeat of the season so far came at the hands of bitter rivals, Liverpool. Man City lost that game 1-0, with Mo Salah scoring the winner.
Meanwhile, Man City resume their Champions League 22/23 campaign next. They face Borussia Dortmund in their group-stage fixture. Man City tops Group G with 10 points from four matches.
Man City’s next game in the Premier League is against Leicester City, who languish at 20th in the points table.
