Manchester City News: Rio Ferdinand Speaks About the Importance of Man City Player Jack Grealish in the English Team

Manchester City News: Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand has recently spoken about the importance of Manchester City player Jack Grealish in the Three Lions shirt.

Coming up from the academy of Aston Villa, Jack Grealish rose through the ranks with ease. He was then sent on loan at League One club Notts County to gain valuable senior team football experience. Grealish played one season with the club, made 38 appearances, scored 5 goals and provided 8 assists.

His brilliant loan spell with Notts County helped him to get into the first team of Aston Villa. Grealish then spent the next few seasons with Villa and became one of the mainstays of the Villa team.

Finally, in 2021, Grealish joined fellow English Premier League club Manchester City when the Citizens paid £100 million for him, making him the most expensive English footballer of all time. Grealish won his first English Premier League, in his debut season with City but so far has failed to reach the heights of his Aston Villa days.

As per many pundits, Jack Grealish has not played at his best level since his £100 million move to Manchester City.

The attacking midfielder has been hugely criticized recently. Many of the fans and former players have pointed out Grealish’s poor goal outcome despite being mostly played as a wing forward.

Grealish finally scored his first goal for Manchester City, this season when he scored against Wolves in a 3-0 win. Following this, City gaffer pep Guardiola came in his support and reminded everyone about Grealish’s off-the-ball movement and work rate.

Apart from Guardiola, Grealish’s national team gaffer Gareth Southgate has also praised the attacking midfielder while slamming his critics.

Now, finally, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has also come in the support of Manchester City player Jack Grealish.

On his Youtube Channel, the former English centre-back explained, “For England, I think Jack should start. Jack Grealish gives us [England] something on the international scene that is different from Premier League football. You need to keep the ball for bigger periods, and he takes the ball, draws fouls, keeps the ball, and gets your team up the pitch.”
