Manchester City player revealed Pep Guardiola’s reaction after Liverpool defeat

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure admits that his boss Pep Guardiola was very angry with the players after the defeat against Liverpool.

Georginio Wijnaldum

On New Year’s Eve, Manchester City lost to Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield where Georginio Wijnaldum scored the only goal in the 8th minute of the match. Man City veteran Yaya Toure said that his boss was very angry at half-time because of the team’s performance in the match.

Yaya Toure

“Of course the manager was angry at half-time. When you are losing and Liverpool are the better side, when you are losing like that then it’s not going to be happy at half-time. It was disappointing and we all felt that ” Toure said.

“Of course he is going to be angry. He is a manager who can be angry. We have to sometimes improve and react to situations, so he will be angry for everything is happening.”

“We have to recognise that Liverpool played well and deserved the three points, but we can learn from this and what the manager says about it.”

“When you lose games, though, what do you have to do? You are disappointed, and you want to bounce back. We don’t want to let the gap grow much more between us and Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham. So we have to react,” said Yaya Toure.

“We will use it – we are not going to give up and we will go to the end.”

“We have to believe we can win the title – and in football, anything is possible.”

Guardiola became Manchester City manager this season and was successful in making an instant impact in his new team. But lately, the Citizens have struggled to replicate the same form. The Spanish manager believes he needs more time to settle down at the new club.

“Yes, normally I was top,” Guardiola acknowledged. “I was there a lot of times with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. But, OK, this is a new chapter in my career to handle that and I am willing to try it.”

“One time, in Barcelona, I was nine points behind against Real Madrid and after we recovered. I won a league being 12 points behind. But the question is, ‘Are we able to reduce the gap to Chelsea?’ Now we have to focus on the next game and not put a lot of stress on things by saying, ‘Oh, if you don’t win the Premier League, wow, that’s not going to be a good season’.”

“Jurgen has been here more than one year. I’ve been here just six months and the way we want to play in the league is not that simple. We need a little bit more time but I’m a guy who is so optimistic and we’re going to try.”

Manchester City is currently in the fifth position in the League table, with 4 points behind Liverpool and 10 points behind table-toppers Chelsea.
