Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are reportedly lining up £40M bid. The 24-year-old English midfielder is a key part of Tottenham Hotspur in recent years.
Manchester City is currently the most active Premier League club in the transfer market. The City football group owned club recently announced the signing of center-back Nathan Ake from Bournemouth and winger Ferran Torres from Valencia.
Manchester City had a good season in the Premier League this season under Pep Guardiola. However, it was Klopp’s Liverpool that won the title. Man City finished second in the table, failing to win the Premier League title by 18 points. The Spaniard suffered from back to back injury blows, especially at the back.
These injury woes forced Guardiola to play Fernandinho at the defense as centre-back. The club is now waiting for their semi-final clash against the French side Lyon.
The English club knocked out Spanish giants Real Madrid with their leader Sergio Ramos out due to suspension. Raphael Varane’s two costly mistakes paved the way for the two goals beyond Courtois. Karim Benzema’s equalizer in the first half went in vain.
Argentine forward Sergio Aguero is still recovering from his knee surgery and won’t feature for the semi-final clash. However, he will be available for the finals if City manages to qualify. The club recently sold their winger Leroy Sane to German giants Bayern Munich. Now, the Catalan manager is working on signing the right players to reclaim their title.
Man City look at Spurs to boaster midfield
According to The Sun, Pep wants to use the situation and hijack the Spurs midfielder Harry Winks and provide a fresh start in the Etihad Stadium.
Jose Mourinho is looking offload players in order to raise funds to sign his targets for the new season. Winks,24, signed a five-year contract with Spurs last season under Pochettino.
The English international’s place in the first team is up for grabs after the club officially confirmed the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton.
Harry Winks’ life at Tottenham under Jose Mourinho
Harry Winks is an academy product of Spurs and has been doing well for the club after getting promoted to the senior squad back in 2016. Winks has been a pivotal player for Tottenham Hotspur
The 24-year-old made 31 appearances last season for the Spurs but still couldn’t deliver the goods for his side. He had been struggling to find his rhythm recently. A new start under Pep Guardiola could be the perfect curve in his career.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will be Mourinho’s number eight next season and it’s time for the English international to find his new club. The 23-year-old French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele could also be shown exit with the player not in plans of Jose Mourinho.
Winks are very much of a ‘Pep player and not Jose player.’ The midfielder shows good potential and excellent in ball possession. Winks are seen as a Spanish kind-of midfielder and could develop well under Pep Guardiola. If Spurs are ready to sell the midfielder, clubs from Spain and Italy are ready to capture him.
