Manchester City Target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s Father Gives an Update

Amidst the Manchester City links, Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s father has recently provided an important update on his son’s future.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia started his football journey at the academy of the Georgian club, Dinamo Tbilisi.

He soon graduated from the Dinamo Tbilisi academy and was promoted to the main team. The winger played one season for Tbilisi and then joined another Georgian club Rustavi. Kvaratskhelia then played for Rubin Kazan before a short loan spell at Lokomotiv Moscow.

The winger stayed three seasons in Rubin Kazan and then joined Dinamo Batumi at the start of 2022. Finally, in 2022, the Georgian winger signed for Italian club Napoli for a reported fee of €10-12 million. The 21-year-old winger has already represented Georgia in international football. He has netted 10 goals for his country so far.

Since joining Napoli at the start of the season, Kvaratskhelia has performed really well. the winger has already scored five goals and provided three assists in the Serie-A. On top of this, he has netted two goals and assisted thrice in the Champions League.

Within a short time, Kvaratskhelia has become a fan favourite at Napoli. He is fondly called Kvaradona by the Napoli fans. Kvaratskhelia’s performances have not gone unnoticed.

Many big teams including Manchester City are currently interested in the winger. However, in a recent interview, his father Badri Kvaratskhelia confirmed that the Georgian is totally committed to Napoli and is not thinking about the transfer rumours.

Badri told Imedi TV, “Nobody has spoken to us about the contract yet. At this stage, Khvicha doesn’t even think about it, he only thinks about playing. Khvicha is informed about market rumours, but it doesn’t influence him at all.”

“When you are in the stands of the Napoli stadium and your surname is shouted by 60,000 fans, this feeling cannot be conveyed. Especially when it’s a footballer coming from the Georgian league.” added the Georgian.  

With Khvicha at his best, Napoli have got a great start to their Serie-A campaign. They have won nine of their eleven matches. With twenty-nine points, the Khvicha’s team is currently at the top of the table.

Their performance in the UEFA champions league is even better. the Italian side have already qualified for the round of 16 of the continental competition. they have won all of their matches in the Champions League so far. Napoli will face Sassuolo in their next match.

Meanwhile, despite Khvicha’s father’s statement, Manchester City will aim to sign the winger in the upcoming transfer windows.
