Manchester City Transfer News: Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have been able to keep their striker issues behind them and have thrived this season. Apart from Brazilian international Gabriel Jesus, City don’t have an out-and-out striker.
Moreover, after the departure of Sergio Aguero, they haven’t particularly been able to fill that void. However, it’s not like Manchester City haven’t tried to get a striker in their ranks.
City actively pursued Tottenham Hotspur main man Harry Kane last summer transfer window. But Spurs were hesitant to say the least to part with Kane. Hence City went on to purchase Jack Grealish from Aston Villa instead.
Although it needs to be said that they haven’t missed the services of a striker up front. With Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and even sometimes Kevin De Bruyne- these players have slotted in the false nine role.
But at the point of time they need to get a specialised man for the job. And that is exactly what Manchester City are working on currently. As per new reports in Portugal , Manchester City have held talks with Atletico Madrid for the signing of Joao Felix.
The Portuguese international is a talented man and will definitely fill in perfectly at the Etihad. Furthermore, Diego Simeone has in fact used him in that false nine position as well as playing him further wide.
This gives Pep Guardiola the opportunity to use Felix’s versatility to full use. Additionally, with the departure of Ferran Torres, they need to ensure they aren’t short of forward players.
Manchester City Transfer News: Joao Felix to the Etihad is a real possibility
According to Portuguese media house O Jogo, there has been a significant amount of talks between Atletico Madrid and Manchester City for Joao Felix. The LaLiga champions are willing to sell Felix to the Premier League champions.
Furthermore, Diego Simeone also hasn’t ruled out a move for Joao Felix in the winter transfer window. He didn’t mince his words and said that the possibility existed.
“I always understand everything. I’m open to everything. The most important thing is the team. Joao is an important piece of our team,” Diego Simeone said earlier on Felix’s future.
“I’ve spoken a lot with him. I don’t have anything to explain to you about what needs to be worked on inside.”
“Seeing Joao for just a few minutes, you realize he’s a great player. He’s going through a situation of growth, we’ve seen it with Portugal and maybe here, too. It’s about maturing and growing to find the consistency that football demands.”
