Manchester City Transfer News: It’s known to all that Manchester City and Pep Guardiola had made Harry Kane their top target last summer transfer window. The Tottenham Hotspur talisman was their primary aim.
Moreover, with the departure of Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane was their option in the striker role. In a way, Harry Kane was being brought in as a replacement for their club legend.
However, that didn’t exactly go to plan for Manchester City. Tottenham Hotspur had absolutely no interest in parting ways with their main guy and hence flat out rejected any offer made by Man City.
And it is not like Manchester City did not try hard for Kane. But Daniel Levy and the company made it clear that Kane will not be leaving in the summer. After all, they rejected bids upwards of £100 million for the English international.
Additionally, it also needs to be said that Harry Kane personally wanted to join Manchester City. Although he didn’t particularly speak about City, he had mentioned that he was looking for a new challenge.
Manchester City Transfer News: Lucas Moura talks about Harry Kane rumours
Brazilian international Lucas Moura has now revealed about the mood of the Tottenham Hotspur camp upon learning about Harry Kane’s transfer. Moura has opened up on the perceptions of the Tottenham Hotspur players.
Lucas Moura said that the players got a bit nervous over the rumours that had been created. They were scared about losing a player of Harry Kane’s calibre let alone thinking about replacing him.
“Harry has an absurd connection not only with Tottenham but with the English fan,” Moura told ESPN in an interview. “Undoubtedly one of the greatest players in England in recent years.
“When all this noise came out on the market, everyone was apprehensive. We even got a little tense, because losing a player of his quality is really difficult. Hard to even replace, to find another one on the market. And it would be a great loss for us.”
Furthermore, Lucas Moura added that they were relieved in the end when Harry Kane opted not to leave. He says due to all the ‘noise’ that was created, he was certain that Kane would be departing.
“I thought he was going. Because of everything that was said, all the noise that was created. But in the end, it all worked out, he stayed with us.”
Tottenham Hotspur recently lost 3-0 on aggregate to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semifinals. They will be next facing Arsenal in the North London Derby on the 16th of January.
