Winger Riyad Mahrez has revealed he wants to finish his club career at the defending Premier League champions. The Algerian international has been playing for Manchester City since joining the side in the summer of 2018. City signed Mahrez from Leicester City for £60m, with the now 31-year-old putting pen to paper on a five-year contract at the Manchester outfit.
Riyad Mahrez left Leicester City after four-and-a-half years at the East Midlands outfit. He featured in 179 matches for Leicester and scored 48 goals for the club during his time there. He was a key player for Leicester City in their Premier League title-winning 2015/16 season.
Since joining Manchester City in 2018, Riyad Mahrez has made 198 appearances and has scored 63 goals for the club. Mahrez, who is now in his fifth season at City, has made more than 40 appearances in each of his first four seasons with the Premier League side.

Riyad Mahrez has now revealed he wants to finish his career at Manchester City. The Algerian star also hopes to play for as long as he can. He has also not yet figured out what the future holds for him after he hangs up his boots.

“I definitely want to finish my career at City and play as long as I can. I think I can still play for a long time. We’ll see what the future holds after football,” Mahrez told Man City’s official website. He added: “I don’t know. I’m still thinking. I love football so it’ll be difficult to come out of it.”
Meanwhile, Riyad Mahrez has made nine appearances for Man City in the 22/23 season. Six of those appearances came in the Premier League. He has also featured in two Champions League matches and has played for City in the Community Shield final.
Riyad Mahrez has not yet scored a goal for Man City this season. He has also not registered any assists for the defending Premier League champions this season.
Meanwhile, Mahrez extended his contract with Man City earlier this year. He signed a new contract extension with City in July 2022. His current contract with the English outfit runs until 2025.
Since joining Manchester City, Mahrez has won the Premier League title with the Manchester outfit three times. He has also won the EFL Cup thrice, and the FA Cup and FA Community Shield once each with Man City.
