Manchester United and Manchester City have added Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet to the list of their transfer targets.
Manchester United are the latest club rumored to make a move for 22-year-old Clement Lenglet. Daily Mail has reported that the Red Devils are looking to bring in Lenglet to partner Eric Bailly at the heart of United defense. United currently sit 2nd in the Premier League table 5 points behind Manchester City having played a game more. City, on the other hand, has looked nigh on unstoppable.
Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet has been a rock at the back for Sevilla
They have taken 37 points from a possible 39 to make it the best ever start for a Premier League club after 13 games into the season. Now both the teams have earmarked Clement Lenglet as a potential transfer target as they look for defensive reinforcements. The young center-back has been on the radar of several big clubs.
Clement Lenglet: A wanted man
The France under-21 international has developed a considerable reputation during his short period in the spotlight. Lenglet moved to Sevilla from French club Nancy in January 2016 and has established himself in the heart of Sevilla defense. The 6ft 2in defender is not one to shy away from tackles and is expected to settle into the Premier League without much fuss.

Lenglet has already been scouted by Arsenal and Liverpool. Barcelona has also reported their interest in the young defender. Furthermore, out of all the five clubs, Liverpool have already approached Sevilla for the signature of their prized asset. Lenglet has a buyout clause of £28 million, a comparatively modest fee in today’s transfer market.
It must also be noted that he still has more than 3 and a half year left on his contract. Consequently, any club interested in him will have to pay his entire buyout clause as Sevilla hold all the cards in a possible negotiation.
Clement Lenglet is young, quick, versatile and good in the air. He has all the potential in the world to be listed among the best defenders in the world. His versatility seems to be the most attractive trait for Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola. Lenglet can function as a left-back and a center-back and both these positions need strengthening at the Manchester clubs.
If there is even the slightest chance that Lenglet will make the move to Manchester then, neither clubs would even bat an eye before paying whatever Sevilla wants.
