English Premier League giants Manchester United are monitoring Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic who is currently playing for Serie-A giants Juventus.
After spending some time in the academy of OFK Beograd, Dusan Vlahovic joined the youth setup of Partisan at an early age.
The Serbian forward then graduated from the Partizan academy and got promoted to the senior team. After his promotion to the main team, Vlahovic played two seasons for Partizan and won one Serbian SuperLiga and two Serbian Cup titles.
Vlahovic finally joined Fiorentina in 2018. In Fiorentina, the Serbian forward gradually became one of the best young strikers in the world. He netted 21 goals in the 2020-21 season and was awarded Serie-A best young player award. Vlahovic continued his great goalscoring form in the next year too. The Serbian was then roped in by Serie-A giants Juventus for a fee of €70 million.
Manchester United Interested in Dusan Vlahovic
One of the best players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo is not having the best of his time. Since the arrival of Erik ten hag, the Portuguese forward has played limited minutes. He has lost his role in the starting line-up and has lost his touch.
He was also involved in a huge controversy in a match against Tottenham Hotspur. The forward reportedly stormed out of the field even after the end of the match. He also refused to be subbed in.
United then dropped him out of the squad in their next match against Chelsea. And now according to a report from The Telegraph, Cristiano Ronaldo is nearing his exit from Old Trafford. As a result, United are looking at multiple strikers who can replace the Portugal captain.
One of the main names that have come up is Dusan Vlahovic. Despite Juventus’s slow start, Vlahovic has been in great form so far. The forward has already netted seven goals this season. At 22 he is currently one of the best finishers in the world.
But despite Juventus’ financial issues, they have no interest in selling the Serbian. They see him as a very important part of their project and want to keep him for many more years. So the contract negotiation is going to be a very tough one for the Red Devils.
But it will become much easier if United qualifies for the UEFA Champions League. Juventus are currently in the eighth position in the table. And they might not finish in the top four. Then United will be able to lure Vlahvoic out of Turin with Champions League football.
And if Vlahovic actually decides to join Manchester United, Erik ten hag will have one of the best forward lines in his hand. A front three of Rashford Vlahovic and Antony will be a headache for every team they face.
