Manchester United Came Back Twice to Defeat Aston Villa

English Premier League giants Manchester United registered a superb comeback victory over Aston Villa in their latest Carabao Cup fixture.

Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay were on the scoresheet for the home side. Meanwhile, Ollie Watkins scored for the visitors.

Manchester United lost to Aston Villa just in the previous game. So this was the time for Erik ten Hag’s side to get some revenge. Manchester United started with a 4-2-3-1 setup.

Things however changed drastically after the restart. English international Ollie Watkins gave Aston Villa the lead in the 48th minute after a swift counter-attack. United though responded quickly.

Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes who was playing on the right wing broke through Aston Villa’s offside trap before setting up an unmarked Anthony Martial. The French forward did no mistake and tied the game.

Aston Villa once again took the lead in the 61st minute. Villa fullback Ashley Young made a surging run and sent a deep cross towards Leon bailey whose header found the back of the net through Diogo Dalot’s mistimed clearance.

The Red Devils then scored the equaliser for the second time in the game. English forward Marcus rashford defeated Robin Olsen with a low and hard strike to make the score 2-2.

Erik ten Hag’s side finally took the lead through Bruno Fernandes. Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen gave the ball away to Garnacho at a very dangerous position. the Argentine forward found Fernandes whose deflected shot reached the back of the net.

Garnacho then got his second assist of the game. The Argentine forward bent in a brilliant cross in the box which was headed home by Scott McTominay to complete a 4-2 win over Aston Villa.
