Manchester United are planning to add competition for their Spider-Man, Aaron Wan-Bissaka by bringing in one of the best in the position, Kieran Trippier. Trippier who is on the verge of winning the La Liga title with Atletico Madrid has showcased an interest in returning to the Premier League.
Kieran Trippier is one of the unluckiest Manchester City graduates who failed to make a first-team appearance. Having risen through the ranks of the clubs at different levels, he signed his first contract after almost a decade. In 2007, he became a regular in the reserve team and was also part of the team that won the FA Youth Cup.
Having performed well, he got his first-team call-up when Manchester City went for the pre-season tour. He didn’t get a chance to make a professional debut as he was loaned out mid-season to Championship side Barnsley.
His initial spell was cut short due to injury. But he rejoined them next season and played for a whole season. He went on to make 41 appearances in his first proper season and won the Young Player of the Year Award. His next spell began soon as he returned as he joined another Championship side, Burnley.

His season-long loan was made permanent halfway. Trippier’s form was magnificent as he made as many as 50 appearances per season. By the time he left them, he had stacked up 185 appearances in just 4 years. In 2015, he joined Tottenham Hotspur. He was initially eased into the squad.
Having bought in as a competition for an in-strong Kyle Walker, Trippier found it difficult to get a spot. However, his patience helped when Walker got injured. He began appearing regularly and once Walker moved to Manchester City, he became permanent for that position.
Manchester United one of the many clubs interested in Trippier
After 4 years with Spurs, he joined the La Liga big guns, Atletico Madrid. His move in 2019 worth £20 million made him the club’s first English player in almost a century. Since joining them, he immediately became their natural choice for that position. This is his second season with the club and he is one game away from winning his first silverware.
Kieran Trippier’s contract will be coming to an end in 2022. And according to The Athletic, he has shown interest in returning to England. Manchester United are said to be considering a move for the 30-year-old as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to add competition for Wan-Bissaka. But to secure him, they will have to get rid of Everton and PSG who are equally interested in him.
Atletico Madrid are finally going to win the La Liga unless they decide to bottle the final game. Atletico started this season radiantly. They were looking to sweep the trophy as early as possible. After the season started, they didn’t lose a single match until December. Till then, they had also conceded only 2 goals.
However, they started losing their gigantic lead and have now come for a photo finish. It was a 4-way battle with Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Sevilla behind within the 6 points radius. Sevilla gave up a few weeks ago and Barcelona succumbed to their poor performance last week.
Heading into the last match of the season, it is Real Madrid who will be snatching if Atletico slips. They are separated by 2 points and only a win can help them secure the title.
If they end up grabbing only a point, and Real goes on to win, Los Blancos will be lifting the trophy as head-to-head results are considered in case of a tie.
