According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Manchester United are keeping tabs on Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic this summer in order to add some stability to their midfield department.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a big task on rebuilding Manchester United over the summer and beyond as the Red Devils are in need of reinforcements and some top quality players if they need to return back to the summit. The Norwegian manager has already made two signings this summer in the form of Daniel James and Aaron Wan Bissaka to bolster his squad but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in terms of recruitment.
With Marouane Fellaini leaving United in January to the Far East and Ander Herrera leaving Old Trafford in the summer to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain, United are falling short of quality players in the center of the pitch. There is also speculation revolving around World Cup-winning French midfielder Paul Pogba amid interest from La Liga side Real Madrid and the 26-year-old could be at the exit door at Old Trafford.
Clearly United need some stability in their midfield and Solskjaer is weighing up his options. However, the baby faced assassin is looking to snap up a deal for Inter Milan gem Marcelo Brozovic as a long term replacement for Nemanja Matic this summer. The Serbian will turn 31 next year and may not fit in well with United’s style of play at the base of the midfield.
Brozovic was immense for Croatia as they reached the finals of the World Cup last year in Russia and the 26-year-old has put in some strong displays for the Nerazzurri over the past few seasons as well. Calm and composed, Brozovic has a wonderful passing range and ability to read the game as well. Capable of playing in an advanced role as well, Brozovic is a classy operator and should be able to add stability to United’s midfield.
With the transfer window ending in just two weeks’ time, United need to ensure that they have players to call upon when required. The Red Devils should make a move for Brozovic as he has shown that he can bring some composure and add a sense of calmness to Soslkjaer’s team.
