The Red Devils are trying to sign Brazilian star Lucas Lima on a free transfer in January.
Manchester United are attempting to sign the Brazilian international when his contract with his present club Santos comes to an end in January. This is not going to be an easy deal, as according to the forward agents, Manchester United are expected to face serious competition from many European rivals. The 27-year-old has been linked with some big clubs of Europe. After his contract ends on 31st December, he would be free to join any club.
He has been linked with Crystal Palace and Manchester United from Premier league, Catalan giants from La Liga and Inter Milan, AS Roma from Serie A. In the last transfer window, Crystal Palace made an offer of 15 million pounds while Fenerbache made an offer of 20 million but for some unknown reasons both the bids had been rejected by Santos FC.
Lima to Barcelona
Lima was expected to sign for the Catalan giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window but this deal was not finalized only remained to rumours.
Neymar pleaded with the club to sign his international team-mate but internal sources also reported that the main reason for the transfer was that Lima was dating Neymar’s sister Rafaella that time. In a shocking turn of events, in the same month Neymar signed a world record deal with the European club Paris Saint-Germain. Due to this Lima’s transfer to Barcelona could not materialize. Lima plays as a central attacking midfielder.
Agent favours Serie A
‘Lima could join an Italian side or he may also depart to the Premier league like his compatriots’, Badia said.
Lucas Badia is an agent of Lucas lima and he gave many transfer updates of the 27-year-old in a press conference.
‘I think he will be well suited for Serie A but we will see what happens in near future.
‘His contract ends soon and many clubs are interested in him but I am not sure what Santos is trying to do.
He also told Turkish paper Haberturk that: “Inter, Roma and Barcelona are keeping close view on Lima but it is Manchester United who actually wants him”.
Lima plays as a central attacking midfielder for Brazil. He scored his first goal for Brazil in 2018 World Cup qualifier against Argentina. He has scored a total of 3 goals for his country and a total of 19 goals in 192 appearances for Santos.
As for Manchester United, have had a great start to their Premier League campaign, collecting 16 points in 6 matches. They also registered their win in the first match of the group stage in the UEFA Champions League.
Champions League match win and Manchester United’s form would surely be a big factor in drawing Lima to United in January transfer window as compared to their other rivals. Inlook also suggests that United are searching for a backup of Paul Pogba for coming years of a bright mid-field.
