Manchester United’s spendings on improving their strike power have been beyond the charts in last 3 seasons. But, the Old Trafford outfit has failed to completely fix their forward line and are now looking to make a £40m move for the Celtic striker, Moussa Dembele.
Dembele has been in brilliant for the Scottish club since his move from Fulham in the summer. The 20 years old striker was a player of interest for almost every top club in Europe past summer.
According to some sources in English media, Manchester United had sent scouts to watch the Celtic wonderkid and are looking to make a January move to the Frenchman.
A Manchester United scout was known to be present at the France U21s match against England and was scouting the Celtic striker.
It is also known that Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the Frenchman and had watched the player three times last season prior to his move to Old Trafford as the Manchester United manager.
Celtics played a meager £500,000 to get Dembele from Fulham and it is reported that Manchester United are ready to splash out as much as £40m for the 20 years old. Although, the Scottish are reluctant not to sell their star performer.
Manchester United are not the only team who are eyeing a move for Dembele—Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Bayern Munich all have sent their scouts to monitor the player’s progress at Celtic Park.
Although, United have been a long time admirer of the 20 years old and it could give them an edge if the transfer war happens. United have been keeping an eye of the Frenchman since his PSG days.
He became a firm case of interest among the United ranks when he played in an U23 games against the Manchester United side back in 2013.
Dembele hae scored 14 goals so far for the Scottish club in 18 games all competitions, 3 of them coming in the Champions League of which 2 were against star studded Pep Guardiola led, Manchester City.
Dembele with his performances for Celtic has made himself a hot prodigy among the elites of club football in Europe and if he carries on with his outstanding performances for the Scottish club than a move in summer looks highly on the cards.
