Manchester United Make Enquiry For a £50m-rated Star

Manchester United have popped up in the transfer market again in the race for a high-profile signing this January.

James Rodriguez

Manchester United have confirmed their interest in the current Chelsea target- James Rodriguez. The signing of the Colombian attacking midfielder is reported to cost United a whopping £50 million. Chelsea has long been associated with making a move for Rodriguez for a long time now.

There has been speculation over the future of James Rodriguez for quite some time as the Colombian is still struggling to establish himself as a part of the Real Madrid squad.

The 25-year old’s father recently made comments regarding his son’s transfer. He reassured the Real fans that Rodriguez will remain in the Spanish capital and snub any offers from Premier League clubs such as Chelsea.

However, United still maintain their interest in the highly-rated Rodriguez and it is reported that Jose Mourinho will be making a play to bag the services of the Colombian midfielder as soon as next summer. There have been reports of United making a big signing this summer and by the looks of it, James Rodriguez might Mourinho’s primary target.

Rodriguez has gradually grasped the fact that first-team football will be a rarity in his stay at Real Madrid as long as players the likes of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo will remain on the totem pole before him. The Spanish club however still values the playmaker and have placed a £50 million price tag on him.

After reportedly falling out with Real coach-Zinedine Zidane, James Rodriguez has struggled to get playing time. A player of James’ capability, however,  should be positively looking to get as much time on the field as possible at he is in his prime and his best footballing years are still ahead of him. It would only seem logical for the player to make a move away from the club in order to secure some first team football.

The Premier League is still considered one of the most highly competitive leagues in the world and if Rodriguez decides to make a move to either Chelsea or Manchester United, he will have his work cut out for him. Perhaps the highly intense pace of the Premier League might bring out the best in the Colombian and help him establish himself as a top player in the world and earn himself some international accolades.
