Manchester United may make move for former star as Sancho alternative

Manchester United have been facing criticism for their inactivity in the transfer market. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has only made one signing this window so far. Donny Van de Beek has come in for a £35m initial fee. Though Ole has been keen to add more reinforcements, United has not made any genuine advancement.

The Red Devils did link to many stars over the last few months. Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish were among the first top targets. Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho was the top priority for Ole Gunnar. But the possibility of the move to happen sees to dip day by day.

Manchester United was keen to add a right-winger to their attack. Ole Gunnar found Jadon as the most ideal option to sign. United did contract the German outfit multiple times over the last few months. But Dortmund are not too keen to sell their ace and demand £108m to do so. Which is far from what United was hoping to spend on the England international.

The Norwegian coach is still keen to add a right-winger. With Sancho still sailing away from Old Trafford, as BBC Sport reports. Ole Gunnar is looking for alternatives in the market.

Gareth Bale is a player United are considering as an alternative. But reports also claim the Old Trafford side will check on a former star at the club.

Wilfred Zaha to return to United?

Zaha is keen to make a move away from Crystal Palace this summer.

The former Manchester United winger is currently playing for Crystal Palace. Zaha could not make much out if his spell at United the last time he was there. Sir Alex Ferguson was the one to sign the youngster back in 2013. But Ferguson left the mantle for David Moyes soon after the signing. Zaha was not able to impress Moyes and soon saw his way out of the club.

Zaha spent the 2014 season on loan at Crystal Palace. The Eagles then made a permanent deal with United in 2015. Wilfred has been an exceptional winger and has been a troublemaker for the opposition defense. But the 27-year-old has found criticism for not finding the back of the net enough. Zaha had only 4 goals to his name last season for Palace.

But Zaha feels that he must now make an exit from Palace. Wilfred thinks that he must make the jump to a bigger club now. Manchester United is an apt location for the winger to change to. Many clubs have tried to sign him over the years. Tottenham made a pursuit behind Zaha before he made a five-year contract with the eagles. Layer on Arsenal made a £40m offer for the winger which Palace rejected.

Now it seems as the player is keen to make a move. Crystal Palace are happy with him and are not expecting to sell him. But will oblige to a transfer if the player insists. However, Palace are demanding a £45m fee for the forward. This price has been keeping clubs at bay as most clubs suffer from financial dilemmas.

United can make the swoop

Manchester United can easily make a swoop for the forward. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to reinforce his frontline. Sancho seems like a ship that has already sailed. Hence, Zaha is a player United can make the move for. Wilfred has played at United before and understands their game style. And can easily adjust to the club.

In addition to that Solskjaer has coach Zaha at Cardiff. This will also be a plus for Zaha to sync at Old Trafford. Also, United can have 20% of any profit Crystal Palace have from Zaha in the market. This will help them to slash down some from the asking price. Zaha may not be a young world-class signing like Sancho. But h can be the immediate solution to United’s attack.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co are optimistic to have a great season this term. The Norwegian is keen to quench their title drought this term. Adding a few more stars to certain areas will be key for United. Solskjaer will try to seal a deal before the window closes.
