Manchester United News: Ralf Rangnick has claimed that a defeat to Norwich City is “unthinkable”. And the manager has also asked his players to cope with the pressure that is on them.
The Red Devils have had a horrible run of form in the last few games. Ralf Rangnick’s side has won just 3 out of their last 8 Premier League games. This run of fixtures has also seen them lose twice.
Manchester United’s latest defeat came at the hands of Everton last weekend. The struggling Toffees side managed to score a deflected goal off of Harry Maguire to get the lead at home.
The away side had to win to keep their top-four hopes alive. But United failed to register a single goal as Everton claimed three crucial points in their bid to avoid relegation this season.
Manchester United News: What did Ralf Rangnick say?
As per the Daily Mirror, Ralf Rangnick has warned his players that alibis or excuses won’t work anymore. The Manchester United gaffer was quite serious before the Norwich City game.
The Manchester United manager claimed that a few members of his squad have failed to cope with the pressure. Hence he added that the performances of these players are not at satisfactory levels.
Ralf Rangnick claimed, “It seems to be like that the level of expectation is high and some of the players seem to struggle with their own performance. But, again, there are no alibis and no excuses. We have to be ready to cope and deal with it.”
Nevertheless, the interim manager claimed that his players already know this. Hence the German tactician was confident that he would see a reaction from the players in the game against Norwich City.
Talking about the game against Norwich City, Ralf Rangnick claimed that a defeat is “unthinkable”. But the Manchester United manager was quick to add that anything can happen in football and hence the outcome can go towards any team.
Ralf Rangnick concluded by saying that he would make sure to provide the best information and formation to his players like always. Hence it has to be seen if United could return to winning ways against Norwich City.
Can the Red Devils still make it to the top four?
Manchester United are currently seventh in the Premier League table. They are six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur at the moment and hence nothing is in their hands at the moment.
The Red Devils would have to win their remaining games and hope that Tottenham Hotspur lose at least 2 of their remaining 7 games to have a chance. But with games against Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea remaining, a top-four finish certainly looks out of the books for United this season.
