Manchester United News: Barcelona has reportedly expressed interest in Marcus Rashford, whose future at Manchester United remains unknown.
The 24-year-old has had a difficult season with the Red Devils. There have been reports of the winger wanting to leave the club in the summer if he is not assured game time.
Because of the shoulder injury, he had to miss the start of the season. After his comeback, the England international has struggled for form and game time. The pacy winger was also left out of Gareth Southgate’s team on Thursday.
Rashford revealed his displeasure after being benched during Manchester United’s devastating 4-1 loss to fierce rivals Manchester City. Barcelona is rumoured to have joined the fight for his services, indicating that a move to Spain could be on the cards.
The La Liga giants have already contacted Rashford’s representatives to express their interest in him, according to the Manchester Evening News. According to a source close to the player, the ‘phone hasn’t stopped ringing’ since he announced his wish to re-evaluate his role at United.
Despite all the rumours, it’s thought that the striker wants to stay with United. There’s even a school of thinking that Rashford’s recent proclamation was made to put pressure on United to increase their efforts to sign him to a new deal.
While that may be true, it hasn’t stopped Barcelona from showing interest in him. And it wouldn’t be the first time Rashford has been considered by the Spanish side.
Barcelona had already communicated with the player’s camp prior to the United attacker signing a new four-year contract in July of this year. The cash-strapped Catalan club isn’t the only major player keeping an eye on Rashford’s predicament.
As they prepare for Kylian Mbappe’s seemingly likely transfer to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain has been linked with a move. Liverpool has also been discussed but it can be said as fantasy.
The striker’s current contract with United ends at the end of next season. Rashford exploded into the scene in the second half of the 2015-16 season. The teenager scored a brace on his European debut.

However, after his shoulder injury at the start of the season, he has struggled to find playing time. Rashford has only started three of United’s previous eleven games and has only scored five goals in 26 appearances this season.
In recent weeks, he has fallen behind Anthony Elanga in Ralf Rangnick’s pecking order. On the other hand, Jadon Sancho’s improved form has helped him retain his left-wing position.
United sources suggest the forward is training well and in high spirits. Although, he does admit that he hasn’t been able to reproduce his game-day form.
