Manchester United News: The car of Cristiano Ronaldo has been spotted at Sporting CP’s stadium amid rumours that he may return there on loan from Manchester United.
Ronaldo has made it obvious that he wants to depart Old Trafford this summer. The striker hasn’t joined United on the pre-season tour. He cites “family concerns” for his decision.
The German powerhouses this weekend dispelled rumours that he may replace Robert Lewandowski, whose transfer to Barcelona was completed on Saturday.
The Portuguese superstar’s options have been limited by the Chelsea manager’s resistance to the idea. It eliminated any chance of the player joining Stamford Bridge after new Blues owner Todd Boehly considered making an extravagant offer for the striker.
Manchester United News: Ronaldo upset with a pay cut?
The 37-year-old Ronaldo, who is the club’s highest earner, was “upset” to see his compensation package at United reduced by 25%. All of the team’s players had their weekly salaries reduced by this amount. That was brought on by the club’s failure to earn a spot in the Champions League, in which Ronaldo is anxious to keep competing.
His former club, Sporting, gives him the best opportunity to do so because they qualified for the knockout round last year and are going for it again this year. The team in Lisbon was in talks to recruit the striker on a loan basis, according to a report on Sport TV in Portugal on Sunday.
It happened on the same day when Ronaldo’s automobile was discovered in a parking area at Sporting’s Jose Alvalade stadium in the Portuguese city reserved for the team’s players.
Although the purpose of the visit is uncertain, it has sparked speculation that Ronaldo would rejoin the squad he left in 2003.
Sporting Lisbon, Ronaldo’s last European club?
Prior to his eventual return to Old Trafford, Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro promised to talk to her son about a prospective move back to Sporting from Juventus. Last month, rumours that Sporting and Real Madrid had made preliminary contact over a stunning Ronaldo transfer started to spread.
Sporting had a protracted title drought during Ronaldo’s only full season there, the 2002–03 season, while he continued to win trophies at Juventus, Real Madrid, and Manchester United. Sporting finished second last season, ahead of strong city rivals Benfica, and won the Portuguese league for the first time since 2002.
Hugo Viana, the sporting director of Sporting CP, recently discussed Ronaldo’s potential comeback with Sky Sports. “I don’t believe it is possible right now, but you never know.
“He can choose his own path, but you can never predict the future. I don’t want to discuss that, but he still has one more year left on his contract, so we’ll see what he does.”
