The former English defender was always vocal against the idea of the Super League and ignited a protest against all the clubs, who were involved in this league.


Neville played as a one-club player throughout his career and retired with a record-breaking 12 English Premier League titles for his club. He played under the United’s greatest manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.


Gary’s time at United was not only a domestic success, as he lifted the Champions League trophy twice in the 1998-99 and 2007-08 seasons. He also has four FA Cups, three English League Cups, one Intercontinental Cup, and seven English Super Cups.

Gary Neville was also part of the legendary Treble-winning Manchester United team of the 1998-99 season. No English club has not able to achieve this feat yet. The team won Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League all in a single season.


Neville retired from his international career in 2007 and hung up his boots after playing almost 20 years at Manchester United in 2011. Gary was a member of the starting lineup of “Class of 92.”

Glazer Family came into the picture in the later part of Neville’s career. Malcolm Glazer purchased a 28.7 percent stake held by McManus and Magnier for around £800 million in May 2005.

The fans were always against the ownership of the Glazers family. Manchester United Supporters’ Trust had held meetings over buying out the Glazers’ controlling interest with a group of wealthy fans, called the “Red Knights” in 2010.

In 2021, Red Devils announced their involvement with a possible Super League to replace UEFA’s Champions League Tournament. Gary Neville played a key in stopping this league and called for fans to protest against it. Despite leaving the Super League, Glazers’ ownership faced a lot of protest in Old Trafford. Since then, it is growing every day. Many people suggested that the Glazers bought Cristiano Ronaldo to please the fans.

Erik Ten Hag’s Machester squad are currently 5th on the table and they have bounced back from the poor start of the season, but before the Liverpool clash, some fans called for boycotting the game. They also used #GLAZERSOUT and #EmptyOldTrafford.
