Manchester United News: The Red Devils are after Ajax defender Jurrien Timber. The versatile player is valued at £35 million and United wants to bring him to Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag, the new United manager, wants to bring Timber with him. If the reports are to be believed, the two teams are reportedly in negotiations over a deal for the central defender.
Timber, 20, played a key role in ten Hag’s third Dutch triumph with Ajax. The Old Trafford-bound manager is eager to continue their partnership in Manchester.
This summer, United is seeking a striker, a creative and holding midfielder, and a centre-back. They will also target both full-back positions if the proper players become available.
Manchester United News: What did Ten Hag say?
Timber, who shone at Ajax under ten Hag, making 43 appearances in their title-winning season, might be the Dutchman’s first signing at United.
“I think all the big clubs in Europe have Timber in their sights,” ten Hag stated when asked about transferring any of Ajax’s players to United. But I believe it is true of many Ajax players now.
“Antony’s departure would be a blow for Ajax. I feel that there is no one in the present squad who can fill his shoes.”
United should concentrate on Ziyech: Marco van Basten.
Ajax great Marco van Basten has curiously instructed Ten Hag to target Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech.
Prior to his move to the Premier League, Ziyech worked with Ten Hag in Amsterdam. The Moroccan international has won trophies at Chelsea, but he has failed to find a regular starting spot. This season, he has only started 12 league games.
However, Marco van Basten appeared on Dutch television on Monday night on Ziggo Sport’s show ‘Rondo’, which had Ten Hag as a guest. The former Netherlands international indicated that Ziyech should consider a move to Old Trafford.
“What comes to me today is that I believe Ziyech, who already plays in England, could be an excellent footballer for Erik at Manchester United,” Van Basten stated.
Ten Hag declined to comment on Van Basten’s idea. He claimed that he is used to dealing with transfer rumours.
Ten Hag explained, “Of course, this was already the case at Ajax. You take that in and then you have to keep working well with the dressing room and the rest of the team. You must perform thorough research and make sound decisions.”
